Woop woop! It's that time of the month again, STITCH FIX!!
Before we get started, here is a bit about Stitch Fix if you don't already know:
- It is a personal styling service in which you fill out a style profile, give them links to your Pinterest style board and leave notes for your stylist as regularly or irregularly as you'd like.
- Your stylist takes the time to handpick 5 items for your fix that they think you'll love. These items vary from clothes to jewelry, scarves, purses and even shoes. For my Stitch Fixes I only ask for clothes because that is the area where I lack styling ability.
- They ship you your fix, you receive it and have approximately 2 days to try everything on and decide if you love it or hate it. Then you send back what you don't want in a pre-paid envelope and keep the items you couldn't part with.
- Last little details, Stitch Fix has a $20 fee for each fix sent to you. If you purchase any items the $20 goes towards your purchase and if you purchase all five items you get 25% off! You can get a Fix as often as you want. I am signed up to receive them monthly but I can turn that off at any time, set it up to send only when I request one or I could even bump it up to every two weeks (if only Justin wouldn't have a fit over that...).
This fix was alright... I had asked specifically for some cream/white blouses to wear with the burgundy pair of tweed slacks I own (featured here) but I wasn't very specific and I ended up getting blouses I just didn't think were quite right. However, as usual, the pencil skirt was ON POINT!
41Hawthorne - Prinsloo Ruffle Neck Blouse
Medium - $58
Firstly, what an awful pictures, but I digress. when I pulled this out of the box I thought I'd keep it for sure, but it ended up just not being all that flattering and the arm holes were a bit large. This is one of the blouses I got for from my "beige/white blouse" request... but it just wasn't going to quite work with the slacks and it wasn't everything I've ever dreamed of. Back it went.
BRIXON IVY - Eugene Swiss Dot Blouse
Medium - $68
So this was a definitely no as soon as I took it out of the box but when I tried it on it just got worse. I feel like it's a bit matronly in style, for one, and for two, the tank top that it comes with is SUPER tiny and like a cheap stretch material. If I'd kept it I would have cut that tank top out ASAP because it just wasn't going to cover anything (hence the other tank I have underneath). I also just feel like I have so many blouses in this style and the pattern made it so I can't really wear this with the slacks.
Skies are Blue - Haldis Henley Blouse
Medium - $58
Another return. This one is actually a really pretty color and not unflattering but again, I have a ton of blouses just like this. It was also just a super thick fabric which I thought was a bit strange, although I'm not sure if I disliked that about it... I did dislike how large the buckles on the arms were - rather than just having buttons they were more like how you'd fasten a belt, and it was just a bit much for me. Another one back to the box.
Now we're getting to the good stuff!
Market & Spruce - Bobbie Printed Skirt
Medium - $68
I'll be honest, when I pulled this out of the box I was like "mm, yea that's a no" but then Justin said something about how he likes it and it's different than what I'd usually wear. And then I tried it on and was like "mm... well this fit isn't awful" and that was my decision-making process on this one. Step out of my comfort zone, get a crazy pattern in a skirt that will keep me nice and cool all summer. Turns out I really like this now :)
Saved the best for last!!
Lila Ryan - Lavana Printed Pencil Skirt
Size 4 - $98
So I'll admit when I saw the price (and I never look until I've tried everything on, and usually cut tags off the items I like, if I'm being completely honest...) I had a mini heart attack but alas, it had to go in my closet. IT HAD TO. I'm obsessed with this skirt, it's the first pencil skirt I've owned in a long time, and the first Stitch Fix has sent me that fits like a glove rather than just straight down and I'm in love. It goes with any of my colored blouses, any shoes, it's amazing. I love it so much I want two and who needs two of the same skirt?
So there you have it, my June Stitch Fix!
