Nicole's Mental Health Day

Something you may not know about out blog is that Samantha and I do not read each other's content before it is posted. As we have mentioned before we plan out our content and assign each other topics at the beginning of the month, but when it comes to reading each other's posts I have to wait to see Samantha's work just like the rest of the world.

So why am I talking about our content planning process? Great question. Today's post is directly related to one of Samantha's topics a few weeks ago - The Importance of Taking a Mental Health Day.

Prior to reading that post I had taken zero mental health days in 2016… and when I really began to think about it, 2016 has been one hell of a year! I have moved, added a member to our family, had many celebrations to prepare for K & I to tie the knot, actually getting married, all while maintaining a responsible and successful professional life. Oi - just thinking about this past year makes me tired and we are only 6 months in! So after I read Samantha's post, K and I decided enough is enough - we were taking a day in the middle of the week to do something we (okay okay - me far more than K) have been DYING to do for months now…

Now let me begin your picture tour of our day...

Walking into Hogsmead

The first view of Hogwarts Castel - my heart literally fluttered when I saw this!

"The wand choose the wizard, Mr Potter... that much has always been clear" - Mr. Ollivander

And I am such a tourist, I too bought a wand!

And the boys bought Butter Beer!

I can honestly say that I have not had that much fun in a very long time! We went to pretty much all of the shows you can possibly go to at Universal Studios (my favorite being Water World!), took a tour of the grounds, walked every step of Harry Potter World, and ate everything in sight. Now you might be wondering "Nicole, was this really the best use of a mental health day?". To which I would respond - ABSOLUTELY! I am so busy adulting every other day of my life it was a breath of fresh air to be a kid again. It was inspiring to get excited by my own imagination for the first time in years and to let the inner nerd in me come out in a world where everyone else is letting their inner nerd out as well. After all is said and done, I have one more thing to say...

Samantha, thank you for reminding me about the importance of a Mental Health day!

Happy Thursday all and I hope you schedule your next mental health day soon!
