Happy FRIDAY! After my post on Wednesday about how difficult life has been recently, it's refreshing to be bringing you not one, but two, lighthearted Stitch Fix reveals today!!
Before we get started, here is a bit about Stitch Fix if you don't already know:
- It is a personal styling service in which you fill out a style profile, give them links to your Pinterest style board and leave notes for your stylist as regularly or irregularly as you'd like.
- Your stylist takes the time to handpick 5 items for your fix that they think you'll love. These items vary from clothes to jewelry, scarves, purses and even shoes. For my Stitch Fixes I only ask for clothes because that is the area where I lack styling ability.
- They ship you your fix, you receive it and have approximately 2 days to try everything on and decide if you love it or hate it. Then you send back what you don't want in a pre-paid envelope and keep the items you couldn't part with.
- Last little details, Stitch Fix has a $20 fee for each fix sent to you. If you purchase any items the $20 goes towards your purchase and if you purchase all five items you get 25% off! You can get a Fix as often as you want. I am signed up to receive them monthly but I can turn that off at any time, set it up to send only when I request one or I could even bump it up to every two weeks (if only Justin wouldn't have a fit over that...).
This fix was pretty damn on point - if I do say so myself. I always recommend to people, try on every single piece, no matter how awful you think it looks out of the box because you may be surprised. I also always say, don't bother looking at the prices ahead of time. If you love it, you'll pay for it, if you don't love it, you won't - but base the buying decision off of how much you love the piece rather than the cost.
With that said, I pulled two items out of this fix that I was like 'NOPE, going back' and by golly, I can see them in my closet from where I'm writing this post. I saw another item and thought, mmm, have something too similar to this, I don't need it, but that 25% off when you buy all five items... well it came in reaalllll handy this month.
Last month I didn't get around to blogging my October fix, I needed to take the pictures one Sunday afternoon and well, it was the day I fainted and got stitches in my chin and pictures were not a thing I was going to do. I kept 3 of 5 items from that fix and took pictures with those items. I've shared stock images of the two items I sent back below.
HOLY MOLY, gosh Samantha, get on with it - I know you all just want to see the pictures. SO HERE THEY ARE!
Stitch Fix Reveal #9
Octavia - Hayley Bird Print Infinity Scarf
Honestly, I don't even remember if this is what the scarf looked like, but this is what Pinterest is telling me it was. I do remember it being burgundy! Regardless, I have a beautiful burgundy scarf and I didn't end up needing another. Back it went.
Gilli - Viola Jersey Dress
Small - $68
Guys, I didn't even want to try this one on. You can't really see from the picture but it actually has quite a high neck and three-quarter sleeves and as you get further into this post you're going to be like 'uhhhh Samantha, you bought the same thing in your next fix'. BUT I DIDN'T ladies, I didn't. This was so matronly, it hit me mid-knee, it had this high neck thing going on, it was just the furthest thing from attractive. Had to go.
Laila Jayde - Diedro Pullover Knit Top
Small - $58
So, I wouldn't say this is the MOST flattering sweater I've ever owned, but it's damn near close to the most comfortable! This is the softest, warmest sweater I've ever put on my body and I just want to live in it. I dressed it up a tiny bit here with my Toms wedges, but really I love to wear this with yoga pants, boots and a comfy scarf. It's seriously SO SOFT.
Market and Spruce - Chaplin Lined Hooded Anorak Jacket
Small - $94
I am OB.SESSED with this jacket. The pictures don't really make it look particularly flattering, but it actually really is. I requested this one by name, in green (they also have burgundy and navy) and I am in love with it. It's warm and has a hood but isn't necessarily a winter jacket. We have several months of 45-60 degree weather here and this is perfection. I'm SO, SO tempted to ask my stylist to send me the burgundy one but good gosh, is that really necessary!?
Lila Ryan - Liza Colored Skinny Jean
Size 27 - $98
If you saw Stitch Fix 8 you saw that I received some burgundy corduroys that I was in love with but they just weren't skinny enough, I couldn't wear them with boots and they just looked kind of funny but OH MAN, my stylist redeemed herself because these jeans are perfection. I have them in black two and they're just amazingly comfortable and how.freaking.cute. I wear them at least twice a week. #noshame
And Onto Stitch Fix 10!!
Look by M - Sammie Plaid Infinity Scarf
One Size - $34
So, this was definitely going back - the second I pulled it out of the box I was like AW DAMN. I literally just bought a blanket scarf at Target (in the dollar section, for $7!!!) that's obviously this same pattern. But I certainly don't dislike this scarf and I've already worn it once and got a few compliments. Really I kept it because I got it free, plus a discount on the other item that I was unsure of by keeping all 5.
Here is the blanket scarf I just bought - it makes my heart happy. If you don't have one (coming from a girl who doesn't actually particularly like scarves), you need one.
Annnd moving right along.
Collective Concepts - Theia Faux Wrap Knit Dress
Medium - $84
This one out of the box was "Didn't I JUST send this back last month!?!?!?!" but alas, this one is, dare I say - flattering?! When I first put it on I was kind of like meh... but it's got the cinched 3/4 sleeves which give them a bit of interest and the bunched waist which allowed me to hike it up the tiniest bit, because without that it hit mid knee again which I just don't find flattering on myself. It's got a low enough neck, no need to go lower - and it's super office appropriate. I'm in love with this dress now, not to mention, super comfy!
Market & Spruce - Bettey Lace Sleeve Pullover
Small - $64
If I'm being honest, I was pretty unsure about this one when I took it out of the box as well. But you know what? I've already worn it, gotten compliments on it and loved it. I was unsure of it because Stitch Fix has sent me lace detail tops like this before and they're always really uncomfortable and kind of itchy. Not this one, though. And hello, have you caught onto my love of burgundy yet?
Andrew Marc - Skien Quilted Puffer Vest
Small - $98
I had requested a vest for a few fixes in a row and my stylist really came through this month. I was completely unsure of the red at first, because wow, that is BRIGHT, but I did love the fit, comfort, and look of the vest overall. When Nicole, Justin and my friend Katy all approved I knew the color wasn't going to hold me back from keeping this one!
And last but certainly not least...
Pixley - Greenich Striped Knit Top
Small - $48
So good. So, so good. I just love this shirt. Super comfy, slits on the sides and the back is slightly longer, the black elbow patches on the navy and white stripes - to die for. Not to mention, check it out above with black jeans and the vest, check out the burgundy pants here from above - it's all too perfect. In love.
